Whether you’re dumping an old vacuum or looking for a second device, you’re in the right place to choose the best cordless vacuum cleaner for your home.
There has never been a better time to buy a cordless vacuum. A few years back, prices were higher, batteries were smaller and most cordless vacuums were, at best, average. Now, in 2021 battery prices have dropped, technology has evolved and household brands compete with new low price imports.
If you’re researching from scratch, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Fortunately, Verum has done the hard work. We’ve checked specifications, scrutinised manufacturer claims and sanitised owner reviews to shortlist & detail the best models available in the UK, right now.
How to choose the best cordless vacuum cleaner
Stating the obvious, the primary need is suck up muck from carpets, hard floors & furniture. Then comes the filter. A vacuum that sucks everything in, only to blow it back out again clearly isn’t that useful. Plus, it must keep going for long enough to finish the job – this is often overlooked.
A good cordless vacuum should make life easier not add to its frustrations. A flat battery, halfway through a job, is more than annoying. This usually results in a few choice words & scrabbling around under the stairs to pull out the old corded machine. A big battery means this happens less often. However, there’s a better way.
Cordless Vacuum with Two Batteries
Choose a cordless vacuum that has an interchangeable battery pack. With a couple of batteries, it’s easy to keep one on charge. When one goes flat, you simply swap the battery pack & carry on. With this in mind, Verum no longer recommends cordless vacuums with fixed batteries. Plus, there’s another benefit of a removable battery. More on this later.
Measuring up the best vacuums, there are six key aspects to consider. Cleaning power, runtime, weight, functions, accessories & build quality. Verum has compared 100s of vacuum cleaners to shortlist & detail the best models you can buy right now…
1. Vytronix NIBC22
Best Cheap Cordless Vacuum Cleaner
There’s a lot to like about the Vytronix Cordless Vacuum Cleaner – Especially the price. Don’t expect the same power as a model costing 10x more, but it has decent suction, it’s lightweight and comes with a removable battery.
On ECO mode, it will last up to 45 minutes between charging. However, as with all cordless vacuums, run time quickly reduces as you crank up the power. What gives this model extra appeal is that you can swap batteries. Buy an extra battery and you instantly double the runtime. You’ll get the job done on your terms rather than having to wait for a battery to recharge.
Lightweight stick vacuum cleaner
Owners of this device have good things to say and while there are certainly more powerful models available, it does the job, weighs only 2.3kg and has a good run time.
Established in 2015, Vytronix has been selling vacuums in the UK for a few years now. They are clearly intent on building a reputation for good value products. Consequently, if you want a cordless vacuum cleaner at a bargain price, click on the link below.
BATTERY CAPACITY: 2200mAh | CAPACITY: 0.5l | FILTER: n/a | RUN TIME: 45min | WEIGHT : 2.3kg | ADDITIONAL BATTERY COST: £30 | WARRANTY: 1 Year

2. Vax OnePWR Blade 4
Best Cordless Vacuum Cleaner under £250
The Vax Blade has a good specification at a decent price. It’s powerful, the technology is on a par with higher priced devices & it has a large interchangeable battery.
The big battery gives up to 45 minutes of runtime. The power on standard is ok for most jobs, however hit the boost button & the Vax will instantly & significantly crank up the suction. A second button engages the motorised floor-head. With boost & brushes engaged most users are impressed with the suction. However, maxing out on power does drain the battery. As a gauge, you’ll get around 10 to 15 minutes if you keep boost on & the brushes spinning.
What’s a brushless motor & why it’s important
The power is delivered via a brushless motor, which is controlled by a small onboard computer. What’s important here is the motor technology. This type of engine means that there are no brushes to wear out. This model will last longer than the majority of budget cordless vacuums. This is backed up by a 3 year manufacturer warranty.
The Vax OnePWR Blade 4 uses advanced technology to deliver impressive results. Plus, with swappable batteries, it’s easy to double the runtime. Owners rate this model and for good reason – compared to other vacuums at this price point, it’s excellent value.
BATTERY CAPACITY 4000mAh | CAPACITY 0.6l | FILTER: Hepa 3 stage 99.8% | RUN TIME: 45min | WEIGHT : 3.1kg | ADDITIONAL BATTERY COST: £80 | EXTRA TOOLS: Crevice nozzle & Dusting brush | WARRANTY: 3 Year
Vax OnePWR Blade 4 | Verdict price £220 | See best price on Amazon
3. Shark Anti Hair Wrap
Best Cordless Vacuum Cleaner
The Shark IZ201UK frequently tops the Amazon best seller list. And for good reason. It’s well built, uses clever brush technology & works well on both hard floors & carpets.
Designed to make life easier
The standout feature of this cordless vacuum is the powered twin roller head. As you’d expect, this is excellent at picking up all types of dirt, but what’s particularly impressive is that huge amounts of hair doesn’t get wrapped around the main brush roller. To be clear, you’ll still need to keep the rollers clean (picking out some hair), but much less compared to other vacuums. Another nifty feature is a lockable hinge that allows easy reach under furniture & more compact storage.
Good for hard floors & carpets
Controls are easy to use. The handset has two settings, one for hard floors & one for carpets. There’s a trigger for a power boost & it easily converts into a handheld device. Expect a maximum runtime of 40 minutes. But with the option for an additional battery & off device charging, you can double this simply by swapping battery packs.
This Shark cordless vacuum makes life easier. No tripping on wires & no clogged brush roller. The power suction is good, it’s well built (although a little heavier than some), it has swappable batteries & comes with good accessories. Plus, it has a 5 year warranty – giving peace of mind.
BATTERY CAPACITY 2450mAh | CAPACITY 0.7l | FILTER: 99.9% | RUN TIME: 40min | WEIGHT : 4.1kg | ADDITIONAL BATTERY COST: £80 | EXTRA TOOLS: Crevice nozzle, Upholstery & Dusting brush | WARRANTY: 5 Year
Shark IZ201UK | Verdict price £335 | See best price on Amazon
4. Miele Triflex HX1
Ultimate Cordless Vacuum Cleaner
The Miele Triflex HX1 is all things you’d expect from Miele. Powerful, well designed & robust – this new cordless vacuum cleaner is worthy of your consideration.
The clever design offers three clever configurations. The power unit can be mounted at the top or bottom meaning you can easily find the perfect arrangement for you & the job in hand. Plus, it detaches turning it into a handheld device – perfect for furniture, cars etc. This vacuum is a little heavier than other top-end brands, but the trade-off is the excellent Miele build quality.
Miele Triflex Reviews
Most owners rave about the Miele Triflex. Although it does receive numerous one-star reviews. However, the pattern & content of these negative reviews looks somewhat suspicious & are possibly fake. Plus, some are simply wrong. As an example, one 700+ word review slams the product, on the basis you can’t replace the filters. This simply isn’t the case. Replacement filters can be purchased on the Miele website, as can additional batteries. The filter system on the HX1 will remove 99.9% of dust particles. What’s important here, as with most vacuums, is that the dust canister is emptied regularly. This will keep the suction high & filters effective.
The basic runtime is good & with three settings, you have control over the power & battery life. This is controlled by a switch rather than a trigger. Turn it on & you’re good to go. You don’t need to keep your finger pressed on the trigger.
Built to last
Miele has a reputation for products that are built to last. And this quality goes a long way to justify the price tag. If you’re looking for the best cordless vacuum cleaner, this is it.
BATTERY CAPACITY: 2500mAh | CAPACITY: 0.5l | FILTER: 99.9% | RUN TIME: 60min | WEIGHT: 4kg | ADDITIONAL BATTERY COST: £110 | EXTRA TOOLS: Crevice nozzle, Upholstery & Dusting brush | WARRANTY: 2 Year
Miele Triflex HX1 | Verdict price £480 | See best price on Amazon
Why buy a cordless vacuum cleaner?
Whether you are looking for a direct replacement for your old corded vacuum cleaner or want a second vacuum for a quick clean, a Verum recommended cordless model will make cleaning your home quicker and easier. Alternatively, if you’d prefer a corded vacuum (cheaper & more powerful), take a look at the best upright vacuum cleaners or the best cylinder vacuums.
How long do cordless vacuum batteries last
Cordless vacuum cleaner batteries have got bigger & better. Plus, all the models here have interchangeable batteries giving you the option to double runtime.
What’s also important is that replacements are available & easy to swap. All lithium batteries will degrade over time. And what’s to be avoided is buying a new cordless vacuum every couple of years. A new battery will bring new life to your vacuum cleaner.
Cordless vacuums, whatever your budget, make cleaning easier. All our recommendations are light, have decent suction and stating the obvious, don’t need plugging in! Plus, they convert to handheld devices that are perfect for the car – no more extension leads.
Choose a Verum recommended cordless vacuums and cleaning your home will be easier & quicker.

Why spend more?
With good entry-level cordless vacuums costing less than £250, it’s now possible to buy something that’s well built, has good suction and holds its charge without breaking the bank. The Vax detailed above is excellent value.
However, the more you spend, the better the technology. Improved motors, refined controls and bigger batteries deliver more suction and will help you clean your home quicker and more effectively. The Miele Triflex HX1 is expensive, but it won’t disappoint.
