Choosing the best built-in dishwasher
Verum has evaluated the best independent research. Specifications have been scrutinised, opinions gauged and test results compared to give you considered recommendations – ranked by price. Starting from around £300 up to a grand…
Best Integrated Dishwasher under £300:
This Beko dishwasher will get your dishes clean and it’s super cheap! The internal design ticks the right boxes. Rather than add additional features, Beko has clearly focused on doing the basics well, at a great price.
The washing and drying credentials are good, both rated ‘A’. Internally, by using a cutlery basket instead of a tray, there’s more room for taller glasses and bigger plates. As with any new dishwasher, a new configuration can take a little getting used to, but the layout makes good sense. Designed for 13 place settings, it’s big enough to get the job done.
Quieter than your old dishwasher?
It’s a little noisier than more expensive Verum recommended models. However, it’s quieter than most models in its price class & may well be quieter than your old dishwasher. The A++ energy rating is good for its class & even matches models costing significantly more.
It’s possible to spend ten times this on a dishwasher and although you’ll get a better machine by spending big, you certainly won’t get ten times the value. If you’re looking for an affordable integrated built-in dishwasher – buy this great value Beko.
SPECIFICATION | WATER USAGE 12.9L | ENERGY RATING A++ | PLACE SETTINGS 13 | CUTLERY Basket | DRYING RATING A | NOISE 49dB | QUICK WASH 30 mins | DIMENSIONS h818 x w598 x d550 | WARRANTY 2 Year

Best Integrated Dishwasher under £400:
The Hisense fully integrated dishwasher stands out for all the right reasons. This new model is great at cleaning dishes & has a specification usually only associated with premium machines.
If you’re looking for the best-integrated dishwasher and want premium features but would rather avoid paying for a premium brand, this is the model for you.
Globally, Hisense is a huge brand. Relatively new to the UK, they produce quality products at an affordable price – what’s not to like!
Above all else, your new dishwasher must do a good job of cleaning & drying your plates, pans & cutlery. The Hisense gets an ‘A’ rating for both cleaning & drying. This is a given for most premium machines, but an important pass mark for models below £500.
This Hisense washing machine has an air-dry feature which automatically opens the door, once the washing cycle is complete. This is ‘A’ rated on regular programmes, but perhaps unsurprisingly is slightly less effective on the quick wash. However, what does truly stand out, is the quick wash. At only 15 minutes, it’s perfect if you need clean dishes quickly.
Cutlery Tray & Flexible Racks
The Hisense HV661D60UK is huge on the inside. The 16 place setting capacity is made possible by a cutlery tray (rather than basket). This may take a little getting used to, but most owners quickly become converts. What’s important is that with no basket on the bottom tray, you have more space for plates, pans, etc.
Quiet Dishwasher & Kitchen
This model is almost certainly quieter than your old dishwasher. Plus, it makes less noise than other models costing twice as much. Another detail which can make all the difference is an anti-flood device. This is standard on most expensive machines but is an excellent addition, at the affordable end of the range.
This best buy, integrated dishwasher from Hisense ticks all the boxes. It’s great at cleaning dishes, capacious, flexible, quiet & best of all – it’s affordable & available (last updated 29 Dec).
SPECIFICATION | WATER USAGE 11L | ENERGY RATING A+++ | PLACE SETTINGS 16 | CUTLERY Tray | DRYING RATING A | NOISE 45dB | QUICK WASH 15 mins | DIMENSIONS h817 x w596 x d556 | WARRANTY 2 Year

Flexible space for your dishes
This dishwasher is designed for your dishes. The space inside is truly flexible and adaptable, to suit your dishes. The upper shelf can be raised or lowered, enabling bigger plates below or increased vertical capacity, on the top, for tall glasses. The plate racks can be folded flat (if required) & the cutlery basket can go almost anywhere on the bottom shelf. Plus there’s a fold down knife rack.
The six programme range has a good auto wash – perfect for daily use. Plus, hygiene, eco, pre-rinse, glass & quick wash settings for specific requirements.
Additional standout features include a timer light & flood protection. The timer light shines a red dot onto your floor showing that the dishwasher is on – especially useful with a quiet dishwasher). Plus, the flood protection system shuts off the water supply should the machine develop a fault. Hopefully, never used but very effective if required.

Bosch dishwashers may cost a little more but with a reputation for quality, there’s good justification in investing. This Bosch Serie 4 has an excellent specification and all the must-have features – including a pull-out cutlery tray. Plus, it’s near-silent.
The only downside is it’s in short supply (like all good dishwashers, at present). If you’re luck enough to find it in stock, don’t hang around!
Best Dishwasher with Cutlery Tray
This best buy integrated Bosch dishwasher has a capacious, 14 place settings. This comparative measure is useful & clearly big is better. However, internal flexibility is key as every household has different crockery and stacking methods.
The top tray on this model handles all the cutlery. As there’s no basket, there’s much more space on the bottom rack for plates & pans. The middle shelf can be moved up & down to accommodate your plates, glasses etc. This flexibility means you can adjust the internals to suit your crockery – making this machine, quick to stack & empty.
Quiet Built-In Dishwasher
Nobody wants to hear their dishwasher & what’s great about this Bosch, is that it’s near silent. The only downside of a quiet integrated dishwasher is not knowing when it has finished! Fortunately, this model has a timing light. This clever feature beams a red light onto the floor. Letting you know when the machine has finished all your washing up.
What setting should I put my dishwasher on?
Most of us use the same settings for every wash. That’s ok, with this model from Bosch, as the auto programme regulates the quantity of water & temperature required, to get everything super clean. There are 6 programmes. These include a 70-degree Intensive setting, a glass protection programme and a quick (29 minute) wash setting.
Best Buy Bosch

Best Integrated Dishwasher:
Is this the ultimate integrated dishwasher? Designed to make life easier, this Miele does everything brilliantly. Dishes come out spotless, operation is near silent and the XXL credentials give flexibility & convenience.
Who makes the best dishwashers?
Miele has a reputation for quality. They proudly claim this dishwasher is tested for the equivalent of 20 years’ use. Adding to the validity of this claim is the number of owners who replace old Miele appliances with the latest Miele models. Everything suggests it’s built to last.
Large Integrated Dishwasher
This dishwasher is rated at 14 place settings. There’s plenty of room for all your glasses, pots, plates & pans. Convenience and ease of loading are further improved by the flexible three-tier racking system. Premium level features include an anti-flood device, childproof lock and all the must-have programmes.
What is the quietest built-in dishwasher?
The best built-in dishwasher should be out of sight & out of mind. An integrated design unquestionably adds to a kitchens premium feel but what’s also important is noise. What’s great about this Miele dishwasher, is that it’s near silent. This is good for all households, but especially important for anyone who eats or relaxes in their kitchen.
Regardless of whether you’re installing a newly fitted kitchen or replacing an old integrated dishwasher, this Miele doesn’t have any negatives. Designed to work better & built to last longer it won’t disapoint.
SPECIFICATION | WATER USAGE 8.9L | ENERGY RATING A+++ | PLACE SETTINGS 14 | CUTLERY Tray | DRYING RATING A | NOISE 45dB | QUICK WASH 64 mins | DIMENSIONS h805 x w598 x d570 | WARRANTY 2 Year

What is the decibel level of a quiet dishwasher?
There are plenty of noisy dishwashers on the market. It’s worth avoiding anything over 55dB. Models below 46dB tend to cost more. Decibels (dB) increase logarithmically. For dishwashers, think about 55dB being approximately double the intensity/loudness of 45dB. If you would rather not hear the dishwasher cleaning your dishes choose either the Bosch or Miele.
Are all integrated dishwashers the same size?
When measuring-up for a new dishwasher, width & depth are straight forward, but height is a little more complicated. In terms of width, integrated dishwashers come in two widths to fit in either a 45cm wide recess (slimline) or full-size at 60cm. The required depth is fairly standard at 55cm to 57cm. All the dishwashers recommended on this page are full size – designed to fit in a 60cm gap width.
The standard height of an integrated dishwasher is 82cm. However, some are taller. The critical measurement is the height between the worktop and floor in your kitchen. Sounds obvious, but this must be greater than the height of the dishwasher (detailed in the above specifications).

Dishwashers – Out of Stock?
Following pandemic factory closures, dishwashers are in short supply. We monitor the best suppliers for stock & price, so if your chosen model is out of stock, do check back.
If you’re lucky enough to find your chosen model available, please don’t hang around or you may miss out (supplies don’t look good for the next month or so)
Why Spend More?
Verum considered 100s of models in the research process. The most expensive costs an eye-watering £2500. Spending this much certainly gets you a great specification. However, it’s not 10x better than the Beko machine detailed above. Nor does it offer a significant advantage over the Verum recommended, Best Buy Miele.
The budget recommendations here are all great value for money. However, should you want premium features, near-silent operation and top-notch build quality, choose the Miele.
Worth the investment?
The premium models will clean & dry your dishes more efficiently. They’ll make less noise than the cheaper machines and have excellent internal capacity & flexibility.
The Miele is expensive. But not only do you get a better machine – you get a better machine for longer. And if it lasts for anything approaching 20 years, as the testing promise suggests, you’ll save a small fortune.
