Philips Azur 7000 Steam Iron
This Philips steam iron will flatten anything. Powerful and with plenty of steam, this model has an impressive 50g/minute continuous steam output backed up by a crease-busting shot of 250g to make ironing quick & easy.
Smooth Operator
The SteamGlide Plus soleplate glides easily over all fabrics. Plus it’s tough. Most irons are ok out of the box, but spending more on the right model affords a superior soleplate that’s designed to last – meaning that it’ll still be effective for years to come.
Also worth noting is that the drip-stop system works. Not just at new, but our long-term Philips Azur iron continues to perform ahead of expectation.
Temperature Control
The Philips Azur 7000 has a manual temperature dial. This allows you to adjust the iron to suit the fabric. For most of us, this control is super important and a good reason to choose this model. However, if you prefer the automatic temperature setting (no dial), take a look at the Azur 8000 (warning: it’s expensive!).
Descaling the Philips Azur Steam Iron
The descaling system is effective and easy to use. There’s a yellow plug at the back of the iron, which can be removed, rinsed of limescale and replaced. This is best done once a month or more frequently in hard water areas. In addition to this, there’s the normal clean function that involves purging the iron over a sink to flush out any scale from within.
Most irons fail due to limescale buildup. Once the inside is caked, the only viable option is to dump it & buy a new iron. What makes more sense is a regular clean. Descale your new iron regularly & it’ll work like new for years.

Reasons to avoid this model
For most of us, this Philips iron is a great choice. Powerful, well-built and with a great soleplate it’s an excellent steam iron for most households. And it’s definitely worth the extra cash compared to budget models.
That said, have you considered a steam generator iron? If you like the idea of making ironing quicker and easier this is for you. Better (& different) technology means you get significantly more power, need fewer refills and the lightweight handset is easier on your wrist & back.
