Philips Azur Steam Iron – Best Buy
The standout reason to choose the Philips Azur SteamGlide is the power. This iron will flatten anything. With a continuous steam output of 50g/minute and a crease-busting shot of 250g, it’s designed to make ironing quick & easy. The specification, owner feedback and a Philips Azur long-term test make this steam iron the 2023 Verum Best Buy.
Non-drip iron
The soleplate glides easily over all fabrics, it’s scratch-resistant and easy to clean. Plus, the drip-stop system works. Not just at new, but our long-term test and review model continues to perform ahead of expectation.
Descaling the Philips Azur Steam Iron
The descaling system is effective and easy to use. At the back of the iron, there’s a yellow plug, which can be removed, rinsed of limescale and replaced. This is best done once a month or more frequently in hard water areas. In addition to this, there’s the normal clean function that involves purging the iron over a sink to flush out any scale from within. It only takes a moment and will keep your new Philips Azur working, like new, for years.

What Else Do I Need to Know?
Looking for negatives, a slightly longer cord would be good and while lots of steam helps power through the ironing, this does mean it needs refilling more frequently than low-power, slower models. Fortunately, the Philips Azur has a decent 300ml tank.
Also of note, is that it heats up quickly and will work vertically meaning that you can steam out creases from hanging garments, curtains etc.
There are numerous more expensive models available. However, few match the Philips Azur for complete performance.
The other consideration is a steam generator iron. This is a big step up from a conventional model and makes ironing much quicker. They’re not cheap, but if you want to know more, click to see the Verum guide to steam generator irons.
